A visiting professor from UNCW also will be in Swansea the entire semester to teach the honors seminar and provide support to the UNCW group.
Students accepted into the UNC Wilmington study abroad program at Swansea University will receive credit toward their degree requirement for most majors. Areas of study available include the arts, business and economics, engineering, environment and society, health sciences, humanities, international studies, law, medicine and the physical sciences. Students enrolling at Swansea will be able to earn 12-15 credits by enrolling in regular semester courses (40 Swansea credits) and either a one-month pre-semester internship, or a pre-sessional academic program in either Swansea or London worth three credits. Honors students may earn an additional two credits by enrolling in an honors seminar especially designed for program participants.
This is a study abroad program. Your program cost will include Swansea tuition, board, your health insurance, local bus pass, excursions and internship/pre-sessional placement fees. There will be additional costs for international airfare and passport.

- The surrounding countryside is some of the most beautiful in Britain. Swansea is only 35 miles from Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and has direct road and rail links to London and all the major cities in the U.K. The wonderful and varied landscape of the Gower Peninsula is close by and was the first place in Britain to be designated as an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.” Spectacular cliffs, lovely beaches and walks are only a few of the peninsula’s many features. There are opportunities for surfing, swimming, walking, boating, fishing and other maritime pursuits.
