Program Description:

The MPH is an 80 credit point postgraduate Master of Public Health. The program includes 4 core courses and 4 elective which can be selected from a range of options. The program will be offered in both on campus and online modes.

The aim of the MPH is to provide graduates with the skills required to improve population health, through appropriate planning and evaluation, assess determinants of health and illness, develop and implement effective and efficient approaches to health services and programs and to demonstrate specialist skills in research and professional practice in the field population health practice, health promotion, health management, research methodology or medical statistics, depending on the student’s chosen field.

This program will provide an opportunity for individuals to undertake professional development and develop a strong foundation in public health. The program will be of interest to individuals of all ages, at any stage of their career, who have a basic undergraduate degree and are working in, or intending to work in, the area of public health. This includes clinicians and allied health professionals, health planners and managers, individuals working in health promotion, health protection or health surveillance. The program has a strong quantitative component, and builds on a good national and international profile of the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, based on 25 years of postgraduate education and 18 years of distance learning.
