Immerse yourself in the Swahili language while learning about the country’s more than 40 ethnic groups, admiring intricate hand-beaded jewelry, sharing a meal with your Kenyan host family, and taking a game drive to see the wildlife in action.
Take one intensive language Swahili course, with beginning through intermediate levels available. Speaking Swahili with your host family will enhance your conversation skills. This program appeals to students who are interested in advancing their Swahili knowledge through an intensive language learning experience. One language course is taught over a three-week period and awards 4 undergraduate credits. The program offers 1st through 4th semester Swahili language instruction.

- Kenya's geography includes hot coastal plains, vast plateaus, Africa’s largest lake and highest mountain and hundreds of miles of the great Rift Valley. Most Kenyans are farmers or herders, yet the capital of Nairobi is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in East Africa and the base for many international and Kenyan organizations promoting development and social change.
