Program Description:
Today’s Leipzig is a university town and trading center of 500,000 people. Leipzig is known as a center of culture and innovation. The University of Leipzig, situated in the city center ever since it was first founded in 1409, has undergone a fundamental renewal since the political change in 1989. Today the university comprises 14 departments, offering more than 19 majors.

Most courses are taught in German. Students must complete the Language Evaluation Form and submit to the UM study abroad office.

Setting Description:
The International Office will arrange housing for exchange students either in residence halls or in rooms let by private landlords. The international office in Leipzig estimates living expenses at around 700 Euro per month. Average monthly rent ranges from 150 – 250 Euro. Student cafeterias offer meals at reasonable prices.
