Program Overview

Program Description:
Fulfill 3-6 credits of requirements in Journalism, International Studies or Judaic Studies while spending 4 weeks living and working at the International Press Club in Jerusalem! June 1-28. Participate in and cover President Peres’ International Policy conference while INTERNING with government agencies and news bureaus! Travel the country learning about domestic and regional issues from experts on location! Meet with journalists, policy makers, military and business leaders!

Courses (6 undergraduate or graduate credits): CEM 592/CNJ 595: The Jerusalem Seminar: Reporting on Israel and the Middle East from Jerusalem A 3-6 credit four-week seminar/course on reporting on Israel and the Middle East from Jerusalem. The focus will be areas such as Israel, the Middle East, regional conflict, the environment, resources, domestic policy and other issues of interest to students in Journalism, International Studies and Judaic and Israel Studies. Students will experience the unique opportunity of learning about and reporting on one of the most covered areas in the world, Israel and its Middle Eastern environment. The program will consist of workshops, lectures, internships with international bureaus, collaboration with foreign and Israeli journalists, and will receive a multidimensional understanding of the issues. These will be organized in conjunction with the Israel International Press Club being established at Mishkenot Sha’ananim, an International conference center and residence in Jerusalem.

Setting Description:
Logistics and housing arrangements will be organized by the Israel International Press Club at Mishkenot Sha’ananim.
Cost:
The program fee is TBD but will be approx. $4,000. This will include: A shared suite (two students) at the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Guest House. 3 meals a day provided in the guest house restaurant.
