Program Overview

Program Description:
This six-credit course will run from late July to mid August 2009 and will be taught by Dr. Susan Moeller, director of UM's International Center for Media and the Public Agenda.

The Salzburg Academy Program on Media and Global Change will gather undergraduates and graduates together with international faculty to explore issues related to media and global understanding and awareness.
The intent of The Salzburg Academy Program is:
1. to encourage cross-cultural thinking about the roles media play in global affairs and public policy
2. to help students and faculty evaluate distinctive international media and policy models and consider their advantages and limitations
3. to propose and initiate standards regarding media coverage of issues such as terrorism and climate change


Setting Description:
Students will live, eat and study at Schloss Leopoldskron, the 18th century palace used as the von Trapp family home in the film "The Sound of Music".
