Program Overview

Program Description:
This 8-day trip will emphasize the ecological study of marine habitats associated with coral reef islands. Students will explore coral reefs (near-shore down to 100 ft), sea grass beds, intertidal zones, and mangrove lagoons. In addition, students will investigate the fringing coral reef during boat dives (usually two per day) and unlimited shore dives.

Approximately $2,840 The program fee includes roundtrip airfare from Kansas City to Bonaire, airport transfers, room and breakfast, most lunches and dinners, 12 dives, orientation, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation services, and administrative costs.

Actual expenses for KU students will vary by the student’s individual tuition compact. Non-KU students will pay the standard tuition rate listed above
Setting Description:
Bonaire, a tropical island in the Netherlands Antilles off the northern coast of South America. This Dutch island is noted for its rich coral reef communities.
