Program Overview

Program Description:
With a history spanning across several millennia and a rich cultural heritage shaped by diverse religions and ethnic groups, Asia provides an unparalleled context to experience people and places that are vastly different from the western world. This program will take you to a set of "City-States" across southeast Asia including: Hong Kong, Singapore, and the cities of Kuala Lumpur and Melaka in Malaysia. The unique blend of cultures you will experience is a mix of Buddhist, Taoist, Confucianist, Hindu, and Islamic influences. You will be exploring both historical and modern architecture during this program.

Students will spend 7 days in Singapore, 9 days in Malaysia, and 4 days in Hong Kong. There will be many planned group activities during the trip to give students the opportunity to see as many architectural sites as possible. KU students will receive credit for ARCH 690 and ARCH 692. Non-KU students will receive credit for ARCH 690: Architecture in Asia.
