Program Overview

Program Description:
The MIS field has become more and more business and data-oriented, and a good MIS education must provide students a balance between business and technical knowledge. The MS-MIS program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake is designed to provide such a balanced education to students with diverse educational and industry backgrounds.

The program consists of 36 to 57 semester credit hours, depending upon the student's specific academic background. These hours include 21 hours in foundation courses, 21 hours in required MIS courses, 9 hours in required electives and 6 hours in approved electives. Those with an undergraduate degree in business and two college-level courses in computer programming may only need the minimum 36 hours of graduate course work in MIS, business, computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, software engineering and instructional technology.
