- Lisbon is the 2012 European City of the Year and is the ideal city for your European study abroad experience. UMass in Lisbon offers year and semester long as well as Summer programs. All coursework is in English taught by both UMass and Portuguese university faculty. Fee is inclusive of up to 18 credit hours, housing, some meals, field trips, phone cards, and more. Scholarships are available.

Extra-curricular activities such as field trips are included in the program. Advanced Portuguese language courses as well as beginner language intensive options are available to accommodate a range of learning needs.
Unique among study abroad programs, UMass in Lisbon is housed within ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon with UMass faculty on site. Students are able to take all their coursework in English or Portuguese or a blend of both. Because the credits are coming from the University of Massachusetts credit transfer is easier than with other programs. The program is flexible and offers year long, semester or Summer options to meet a variety of needs.
