Program Description:

A typical programme for schools here in Cuenca includes 3 hours of structured classes in the mornings, lunch with host families and 3 hours in the afternoons to take part in our experiencias. On other days students make go on one of our optional daytrips. Every aspect of the programme can be designed to meet the needs of your group, and for groups of 8 or more your visit will be fully-tailored. For example you may wish for students to take part in experiencias in both the morning and afternoon blocks rather than taking classes here and schools can choose any dates and length of stay to suit.

Our pedagogical approach is taken from the most recent trend in research into foreign language acquisition: CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and is based on the natural use and acquisition of language in real life situations where students can learn new things with the new language input as a vehicle for learning. Students acquire fluency in Spanish by using the language to communicate with a real purpose. Our programmes are based on experiences, which we call “Experiencias TSE” and which are the key to language acquisition; attractive contents that will enrich the foreign student while Spanish is used for what it really is, as a tool for communication. These contents have been developed for their intrinsic values, representing as they do, the essence of our city: - Art & Culture - Nature & Biodiversity - Audio-visual & Mass Media - Business - Sport & Multi-adventure Activities 32 hours per week of experience, coexistence with native speakers, training, and learning spanish!

True Spanish Experience is the perfect way to offer students learning the foreign language the advantage of also learning content with total cultural immersion. As well as offering an unforgettable personal experience it can become an important part of your school or university’s academic content, or your business’s programme. Learning related to art, culture or the environment and doing exciting adventure sports, workshops and activities while practising Spanish is the best way for students to experience real language and culture. University training plays an essential role in our project. In conjunction with the National University of Distance Learning (UNED) our University programme provides a range of options adapted to the individual interests and needs of students of Spanish as a foreign language. Setting Description:

Morning Classes: Many students will already have a grasp of the Spanish Language, but can have difficulty putting this to use in a practical way. Our classes are designed by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia to encourage fluency and spontaneous language in a relaxed environment. We cover special vocabulary and language to prepare students for the experiencias and give them practice in asking and answering relevant questions. The classes are designed before your visit, entirely to your specifications. We are happy to focus on particular grammar points, or on topics which your group have been studying. Afternoon Experiencias: Afternoons are the opportunity to take part in one of our unique Experiencias (in 5 streams): Art & Culture, Nature & Biodiversity, Business, Audio Visual & Media and Sport & Adventure each contain a range of exciting experiences and school groups may select Experiencas from any number of streams.
