Program Description:
The Department of Nursing and Health Care Studies at the Institute of Technology, Tralee has been providing masters level study for nurses for many years. Students have the potential, under the supervision and guidance of expert academic staff, to develop their interest, knowledge and abilities both generally in respect of nursing and also within specific fields of practice. Successful masters graduates are practising in specialist fields, in senior management and in education. What is the Master of Science in Nursing about? The MSc in Nursing pathways, aims and outcomes have been constructed within the context of health, nursing and educational policy developments. They are congruent with the health based strategies of the Department of Health and Children (DoHC), with the professional based strategies of An Bord Altranais (ABA), the previous National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM), the educational based strategies of the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI). The programme facilitates professional planning and leadership for participants within clinical practice, within management, within research and within education.
