Program Overview

Program Description:
The University of Southern Mississippi is proud to announce a study abroad program in Cuba for the Summer 2016. This is a unique opportunity for university students from across disciplines to receive college credit while visiting one of the most fascinating countries in the world. Cuba offers a rich context for exploring the accomplishments and pitfalls of alternate social, political, and economic systems that emerged over fifty years ago in a country only ninety miles from Florida. Students will enroll in one of our 4 hour courses in education or social work where they will attend discipline-specific lectures, collective group presentations, and daily visits to selected national museums, historic sites, public artworks, landmarks and human service agencies such as schools, literacy programs, health prevention programs, child welfare, and mental health programs. Additionally, students will have opportunity to take advantage of Cuba’s beautiful sun, coastal views, and rich urban and rural communities.
