Parsons Summer Intensive Studies
Session I: June 3-21, 2019 | Session II: July 9-26, 2019Join our three-credit, three-week program in art and design, enriched by the vast resouces of New York City. Courses tailored to high school students (age 16-18) preparing to apply to college and college students interested in broadening their education and earning transfer credits.
This intensive program is open to anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of art and design in an academically rigorous and artistically stimulating environment. Students spend five days a week in studio classes and receive demanding homework assignments. Courses are supplemented by special events, including portfolio reviews, Parsons alumni career panels, and industry guest lecturers, all designed to prepare students for admission to design school or direct them toward relevant career paths.
Courses include: Animcation Studio, Architectural Design Studio, Design and Managment, Design Studio, Drawing, Fashion: Explorations in Sewing and Construction, Fashion: Merchandising, Fashion: Visual Presentation, Game Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design Studio, Painting, Photography, and Product Design.
- Setting Description:
- Classes are held at The New School's Greenwich Village campus. Studio courses usually take place in Parsons' Sheila C. Johnson Design Center and the new University Center at Fifth Avenue and 13th Street. This facility also houses the University Center Library. Digital workshops are held in the University Computer Center at 55 West 13th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
