Program Overview

Program Description:
The Master of Furniture Design gives the students the opportunity to combine in-depth theoretical research with creative designing. Furniture design is one of Italy's most respected and developed areas of knowledge. They will also be given the chance to examine the fundamentals of design together with more advanced topics such as fabrication, and furniture design detailing.

Italy is known worldwide for its furniture industry. One of the highlights for furniture design students is a visit to one of Tuscany’s premier furniture factories.

Setting Description:
The school is located in close proximity to some of Florence’s most important museums and cultural sites. Field trips form an integral part of The Florence Institute's curriculum. Visits to the Uffizi Gallery together with many other palazzi, churches and museums are visited each week.
