Program Description:
This summer, the Arts University College is opening its Costume Department and workshops to professionals and students who are involved with the design and construction of garments. With highly acclaimed specialist teachers and dedicated learning resources, you can choose from a selection of short summer courses designed to inspire and educate you. Written by leading costume academics, the summer portfolio of courses is unique and not available anywhere else in the world.

Our leading tutors have expertise in costume designing and in costume interpretation covering all periods in history and genres of performance. There are six summer courses to choose from: 18th Century Male Coats; An Introduction to Male Tailoring; Introduction to Cutting 18th & 19th Century Female Dress; Classic Ballet Tutus; Costume and Theatre Culture; Female Tailoring of the 1940's and 50's.

Setting Description:
Class sizes are kept small and you will have access to the full range of resources at the University College. Using our studios and extensive workshops you will work with talented tutors and will learn specialist cutting and making skills, focusing on male period and female couture clothing. This is a unique chance to speak to experts who will impart their knowledge and teach you the history and skills behind bespoke English tailoring and costume.
