Program Overview

Program Description:
Our Summer in Shanghai program allows students to benefit from this cosmopolitan city’s many resources over the course of eight weeks. Students may focus on immersion in Chinese language or within a Chinese workplace, contextualized through the study of contemporary Chinese society and economy.

Select any combination of 9 credits: survey Chinese society or economics paired with a Chinese language course or an internship, or focus exclusively on intensive language study. Dive into the bustling metropolis of Shanghai to explore the major social and economic transformations in Chinese society and practice your Chinese language inside and outside of the classroom. Focus on intensive Chinese language, live with a host family, and take a language pledge to rapidly expand your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Distinguish yourself professionally and network within the Chinese business culture as an intern at a national or multi-national company, arts-related organization, NGO, think tank, or government organization.

The program price includes tuition and fees, housing, pre-departure materials, guidance on applying for a visa, orientation, cell phone, weekly activities, field study trip and/or long weekend trip varying by term and program, textbooks, the services of a full-time resident staff, and medical and evacuation insurance. Visit our website for a breakdown of estimated additional expenses.
