Program Description:

As a student in the SU Madrid program, you will start your semester abroad by embarking on one of four amazing traveling academic experiences, aimed at giving you the best introduction to Spain and Europe. During that time, you'll also meet fellow classmates and key SU Madrid staff and faculty.

Once in Madrid, you will take courses at the SU Madrid Center, located at the Instituto Internacional or at one of our partner universities. Just as important, you will immerse yourself fully into Spanish culture by sharing life with a local family. There is no better way to learn the language and to experience firsthand how the people in your host country think and feel.

Setting Description:

Located in the vibrant heart of festive, modern Madrid, the Instituto Internacional is the home of Syracuse University in Madrid. This one-time private palacio features wide staircases, a library, a cafe and Internet access. Madrid is a modern political, cultural and financial center. The people of Madrid have managed to preserve the old while embracing the new, keeping alive small-town traditions alongside cosmopolitan cultural events and a world-famous nightlife.
