Program Overview

Program Description:

To fully capitalize on the advantage's of Hong Kong's culturally rich, diverse, and modern setting, SU Hong Kong is utilizing contacts with leading educational institutions, organizations, and businesses in Hong Kong, mainland China, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. You will have opportunities to meet local intellectuals, other students, and community members on your two-weeks learning seminar in China and Southeast Asia, classes and field trips in Hong Kong, research in China and Southeast Asia, and internships at local businesses. You will also have a chance to participate in various clubs and community service projects at City University of Hong Kong, where the SU Hong Kong program is based.

Setting Description:
Hong Kong, which was returned to China in 1997 after more than 150 years as a British Crown Colony, is fascinating: bobbing fishing junks alongside luxury yachts; shimmering skyscrapers beside pagodas; state-of-the-art shopping complexes and alleyway market stalls. With its mixture of Western and Eastern values, culture and traditions, Hong Kong is an ideal gateway to China and all of Asia. Syracuse's Hong Kong Center is located in Kowloon Tong, an affluent residential district that has a lower population density than other places in Hong Kong. With MTR and KCR railway stations stops at City U’s campus, it’s easy to connect to the other districts of Hong Kong.
