Program Overview
- Program Description:
SU Florence is one of the oldest and most prestigious study abroad programs in all of Europe. Its academic courses and related activities have evolved in the context of a city with an extraordinarily rich history and a contemporary nature. While you may associate Florence with the Renaissance, the city has plenty of modernity to offer. In addition to being a world capital for art, architecture, food, and fashion, Florence is fast becoming a thriving international hub for EU political science, business, sustainability, and international education.
Participants on this program may also choose to enroll in an academic internship, allowing them them to apply their knowledge to situations in their field. Students can use their placement to further their professional development and investigate a career path. Potential settings for internships include libraries, political parties, schools, NGOs, businesses, and museums.
- Setting Description:
- Florence is nothing less than a joyous living museum where architectural and artistic masterpieces greet you at nearly every turn. It's also a commercial, industrial, and tourist center, as well as a rail junction that provides easy access to many of Italy's great cities. The Syracuse University Florence Center's campus is located on historic Piazza Savonarola and contains classrooms and lounges, a renowned library (the largest English-language collection in the city), a garden, a caffe bar, and computer cluster with internet capability. Syracuse art and architecture studios are located nearby at Piazzale Donatello.
