Program Overview

Program Description:

This course introduces students involved in health care and education-related professional programs to the South Asian culture, family, food, and healthcare systems. Students will sample and experience the regional and religious diversity of this culture through lectures, films and documentaries, readings, and a cultural immersion trip to India.

The first two weeks of the course will consist of online instruction from faculty from India. The second two weeks will encompass the cultural immersion trip to India where students will visit New Delhi, Agra, and Baroda. During the visit to India, students will have an opportunity to visit schools, community program sites, NGOs, traditional and modern healthcare facilities, and learn about the South Asian culture by interacting with families and communities in both rural and urban areas.
