Program Overview

Program Description:

Experience the range and breadth of London theater: from well-known titles to lesser-known discoveries, from the tried-and-true to the comparatively untested, from musical theater to Shakespeare. You’ll learn how to see theater and to read and write about it. A willingness to immerse yourself in London’s critical culture and the spectrum of live performance is helpful and expected. Along with lectures and discussions, you’ll get up-front, firsthand meetings with key players in the London theater circuit—directors, producers, performers, and more—who will enhance your understanding of how theater productions and projects develop from the page to the stage.

Past guests included two-time Tony Award nominee Gavin Creel (The Book of Mormon), three-time Olivier Award-winning actor Roger Allam (The Tempest), and two-time Tony-winning lighting designer Rick Fisher (The Audience). Past performances have ranged from new plays starring Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Judi Dench to a preview of the blockbuster musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
