Program Description:
Sport Management programs combine the principles of a business management curriculum with the unique demands of sport as an enterprise. An interdisciplinary curriculum — experiential in design and practice — prepares you through course work, fieldwork, and internships to be a successful professional in a variety of career fields with national sport organizations, multinational corporations and businesses in sport marketing, media and communications, event and facility management, sport law and labor relations, security and risk management, information technology in sport enterprises, sport economics and finance, sport production and supply chain management, or sport governance and leadership. The program is exemplary in its focus on future trends such as information technology in sport, sport entrepreneurship and international sport. You will enjoy outstanding faculty who share their wealth of professional, industry-based experiences in the classroom while helping you consider sport management from a strategic leadership perspective. As you study a variety of graduate-level courses, you’ll expand your capacity for research by collaborating with outstanding scholars through international academic partnerships. Choose internship opportunities that reflect your interests in fields such as collegiate sport, professional sport (major and minor league), national sport committees, international sport-governing bodies, full-service sport marketing agencies and event management firms. Also located on SUNY Cortland's campus are the Sport Media and Technology Learning Center and the national training centers for sport-specific information technology companies such as Dartfish. .

Requirements:
? Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 preferred ? Official transcripts from all institutions attended ? Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores sent to SUNY Cortland Graduate Admissions by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). A waiver for the test requirement may be given to students that have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher or can document five years of industry experience in a related field ? 250-500 word essay about your professional and educational goals or a portfolio of professional practice ? Minimum two letters of recommendation including one academic and one professional ? Resume International students must also submit: ? Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - required if English is not first language and not common as official language of nation of status/citizenship ? Official college transcripts with professional translation of all documents into English with original documents ? Financial support statement
International Requirements:
(1) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam report with a minimum score of 550 (paper version) or 213 (computerized version), and 79 Internet equivalent on the U.S. scale. If your scores are at or slightly above these minimum requirements, you may be asked to provide additional evidence of English proficiency. If you are interested in pursuing a dual degree program, you will be expected to meet the English proficiency standards of both institutions. (2) Applications will be reviewed for admission based on academic accomplishments and the level of proficiency in the English language. Immigration form I–20, which is used to secure an F-1 visa, will be issued once all required information has been received and you have been accepted to SUNY Cortland.
