Program Overview

Program Description:
Christian theology is one of the oldest, richest, and most challenging intellectual traditions in western culture. The classic definition of theology, "faith seeking understanding," emphasizes that this discipline is a true science, with its own criteria of analysis and critical reflection, and at the same time is based on faith, the human encounter with the mystery of God. The challenge of serious theological reflection is of interest to lay men and women, as well as clergy; as a professional preparation for pastoral ministry or religious education; as a program of continuing education; or as a journey in personal enrichment. Spring Hill's programs provide an intellectually challenging and spiritually enriching experience of theological study in the Catholic tradition, from a contemporary, ecumenical perspective. Students are from diverse religious and professional backgrounds. Degrees available include: the Master of Theological Studies, Master of Pastoral Studies, and the Master of Arts in Theology. Certificate programs include the Certificate of Spiritual Direction or Faith Companioning, Theological Studies, and Pastoral Ministry.
