Program Overview

Program Description:
The goal of Spanish Studies Abroad is to guide you to live as a member of sevillana culture, while gaining a profound understanding of your surroundings. Experienced Spanish Studies professors design their courses, no matter the discipline, to advance critical thinking and develop correct expression of the Spanish language.

Spanish Studies Abroad offers high school students the unique opportunity to engage in Spanish culture and language while obtaining college-level credit, living in a homestay, and discovering the beautiful and ancient city of Seville. High school students (16 years of age and over) may enroll in the Spanish Studies Abroad summer program, which offers courses from the beginner to advanced Spanish level, or in a gap semester/academic year through our Upper-Division Program at the advanced Spanish level (interested high school students at the intermediate level should check out our Language & Culture Program in Alicante).

Our Center in Seville has been a social and cultural gathering place for Americans and sevillanos since 1969. Spanish Studies program fees include tuition, room & board, meals, support of the onsite staff, predeparture support, laundry, overnight and local study visits, cultural activities, orientation, health insurance, computer access, and a CC-CS transcript. Optional trips and activities are also available at the Center.
Setting Description:
Your academic experience takes place in a historic Spanish mansion in the heart of downtown Seville. A beautiful and ancient city on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has a rich cultural life and is known for its winding Moorish streets, Renaissance gardens, flower-strewn patios, grand architecture, flamenco dancing, and music.
