Program Description:
The Master of Arts in Museum Studies Program at Southern University at New Orleans is the only program of its kind in Louisiana. Students matriculating in the Program undertake a rigorous course of learning in Museology, the branch of knowledge dedicated to the study of the theories, procedures, and managerial concepts of museums. Practical application of course work is achieved through internships with local, regional, and national museums, which serve as extended classrooms. Graduates of the program have successfully emerged in careers in museums, libraries, cultural organizations, and academia. The Program offers night and online classes to suit working professionals. Students need 36 credit hours to graduate.
