For many, working in the healthcare field isn’t just a dream – it’s a calling. If this sounds like you, our Medical Assistant Associate degree program is a great way to get started in the field. This program is designed to expose you to both the administrative and clinical aspects of a healthcare environment, including medical theory and terminology, as well as the procedures associated with the operation of a healthcare facility.

 

In this program, you’ll participate in clinical laboratory classes, where you can apply the knowledge you’ve learned and build real-world skills today’s employers are looking for. You’ll also participate in a mandatory externship, which offers further opportunities to apply learned skills and competencies. Our hands-on medical assistant training will separate you from the pack and help give you the experience to succeed in your new medical assistant career.

 

Southwest Florida College is a proud member of the American Association of Medical Assistants, and our Medical Assistant Associate degree program is accredited with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This allows medical assisting students in the program to sit for their certification exam immediately upon graduation. With a course in radiography included in the program, students may sit for the state licensing exam to earn a basic x-ray machine operator credential.
