- Program Description:
- Students who want to study the Chinese legal system, as well as business and foreign trade in and with China, may do so at either of two similar, but distinct courses: Hong Kong, SAR; or, Shanghai, PRC. After completing coursework in Shanghai, students have the option of doing an externship in Shanghai, Beijing or Hong Kong. Mandarin is required for externships in Shanghai and Beijing but is not necessary for externships in Hong Kong.

The primary focus of the Shanghai program is doing business in the People’s Republic of China, and the legal system that would govern such transactions. Classes are held at Jiao Tong University. The course covers essential laws and regulations that govern trade and investment with China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

- Shanghai is the commercial center of the Peoples Republic of China. It is to China what New York is to the United States. Shanghai has dazzling, 21st century skyscrapers, remnants of 19th century colonial inroads, and traditional Chinese neighborhoods and culture. It is China’s major port.Shanghai is where all major international firms – legal, financial, accounting, and business – have located to do business in and with China. The Shanghai program will be held at Jiao Tong University, a centrally urban located campus.
