Program Overview

Program Description:
Research and clinical experience spanning multiple disciplines point to our earliest experiences as the most formative. Further, they show that the body-mind-spirit connection cannot be omitted from our concepts of health and healing. In response to a growing need for professionals trained for these rising specialties, SBGI offers MA and PhD degrees in both on-campus and on-line learning formats. Woven throughout our curricula are five intellectual emphases that reflect the emerging paradigm in psychology: affective neuroscience, attachment theory; trauma; prenatal and perinatal psychology and somatic psychology. The Clinical Psychology track meets the requirements for the California Marriage and Family Therapist License. Students studying Clinical Psychology at SBGI may study on-campus once a month or twice a year. Monthly On-campus (MOC) classes are conducted one weekend per month with distinguished faculty in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Distance Learning Format (PSP) classes are online, and on-campus one week per session; fall/winter and spring/summer. SBGI's structure is tailored to the professional commitments and psychological needs of the mature student. Earn your MA in Clinical Psychology within 2 years or your PhD within 3 years from a distance and on your own time.
