Germany has a long history of excellence in automobile manufacturing with such companies as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. The automobile is as important today as ever – and with that comes new and more increasing demands: most notably those concerning alternative fuels and the impact of automobiles on the environment. With that in mind, the Automotive and Mobility Studies Summer School offers in-depth knowledge of modern automotive technologies, concepts of mobility, and their grid integration within traffic and city planning.
The programme is based on the following pillars: I. Excellent Science and Research in Automotive and Mobility Studies In this Summer School programme, students will receive an introduction to the available alternatives to combustion engines, with a look at concepts of future vehicle power trains, including structures of alternative power trains. The programme also covers alternative fuels, such as alcohol, natural gas and hydrogen, as well as their properties and production. Other topics include fuel cells, electric drives, energy carriers and storage and torque and energy converters. II. German Language and Culture All Summer School participants get the help of a German "Buddy", usually a student of RWTH Aachen University, who helps the students with everyday issues in Germany and student life in Aachen. III. Social Events - Have fun while studying! All students attend an extensive leisure time programme during their stay. They will experience German culture hands-on through German cultural events, excursions to cities nearby, sporting events, get-togethers with students from various international Master’s programmes, intercultural events, and a lot more – enjoy your stay!

Additional Program Information
- You are a B.Sc./B.E. student enrolled at a renowned university, have profound knowledge of the English language and are studying mechanical engineering or a related field. Desirable is the completion of the first year and basic knowledge in the following areas: Mathematics, Mechanics, Physics, Fluids, Energy Conversion Machines, Thermodynamics, Automotive Engineering. The minimum age to participate is 18 years. Students should have completed the first year of studies.
