Program Description:

The Rutgers Art History in Rome program is a six-week summer program led by the Rutgers Art History department. This program will study the functionality of museums and their evolution as well as art restoration and other topics pertinent to you as a student of art history and a visitor to Rome. Your on-site classes will explore the city’s individual monuments, their cultural contexts, and the roles they play in the larger history of the city.

"• Attend on-site lectures by expert Rutgers professors in front of major art history sites in Rome. • Learn about art and its history; from antiquity to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance until present day. • Get behind the scenes tour of the city’s most famous museums and churches like the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica. • Use the city as your classroom- classes are held in the street and in front of major works of art."
