- The University of Costa Rica was established in 1840 and today has more than 30,000 students. Their Academic Program for International Students (APIS) is for students looking to hone their Spanish language skills. You will take intensive Spanish classes—beginners, intermediate, or advanced—alongside elective classes that are taught in English.
