Program Description:
Pharmacists in Ireland must now, under the terms of the Pharmacy Act 2007, supervise a series of processes for improving quality of service and ensure that they are accountable for their practice. This programme will provide you with the personal, management and leadership skills to perform effectively in this position of responsibility in the healthcare sector. You will be better able to configure and deliver excellent healthcare. The programme will provide you with a sound knowledge and appreciation of operations, quality and risk management, people management, evaluation, research and measurement, change management, leadership and strategy, and specialist skills for pharmacy management. Learning Outcomes The programme will provide students with the skills and knowledge to: • Critically discuss the role of the manager in healthcare and how organisations and people work within the healthcare system. • Evaluate and use measurement tools for quality and safety • Manage across boundaries – and evaluate how high quality services can best be designed, configured and delivered. • Assume a strategic leadership role as an advocate for improved healthcare delivery. • Debate internal and external catalysts for quality and understand the core concepts of quality and safety • Analyse specific pharmacy policy issues and apply to their practice area. • Complete an organisational development project, reflect on the learning gained and evaluate the project from a leadership & healthcare management perspective.
