Program Description:
This programme combines theoretical understanding of tourism and hospitality issues and their management with practical methods of analysis. You will acquire an understanding of the policies, strategies and leadership aspects required of the international tourism and hospitality industry. Those who possess a comprehensive knowledge and/or experience of working in the service sector will find that this programme improves their understanding, analysis and management skills. Our programme has been designed for those people wishing to develop their careers to a very high executive level within the international tourism and hospitality industry. It follows a precisely defined route and is delivered by an industry-experienced team of specialist academic staff. It covers those areas deemed most crucial for your career development. You follow modules through postgraduate diploma level and will complete your masters by working on a major individual research project. Throughout your time you will explore e-tourism, competitive advantage for hospitality, managing people, research methods and analysis, marketing, and disaster and crisis management. You also learn to assess your own self-development and develop your team leadership and presentation skills. The programme has been designed for full-time study and to be completed within one year, although part-time study opportunities are available. There are two taught periods, October to December and January to March, followed by a long third period of five months April to September, in which you will prepare, work on and complete your masters dissertation.
