Program Overview

Program Description:
The Paris Institute of Creative Arts offers classes in the arts, art history, French language, literature and creative writing in the stunningly beautiful city of Paris. With the exception of French language classes, all our classes are offered in English to enable students who wish to discover the amazing cultural opportunities Paris has to offer but who have not attained a high level in French language.

Our core staff is made up of artists, art historians and those interested in literature. All our art and photography teachers are active artists regularly presenting their work in galleries and museums. Our art historians regularly publish scholarly articles and books on their specialties (including photo history, history of painting, sculpture and architecture as well as fashion). In literature we have a range of expert scholars who are also active writers in poetry and novel form. Our partner institution for French language courses has received the highest marks offered by the French government for teaching French as a foreign language.

The goal of the Paris Institute of Creative Arts is to offer students access to the wonderful cultural offerings to be found in Paris. Students will be guided to discover the museums, the galleries, the historical neighborhoods by our teachers who have an intimate knowledge only local residents can have of a city as rich as Paris is. Our teachers and staff have all been through the study and/or work abroad experiences that you will be going through and so will help you to navigate through some of the challenges one encounters to help make the transition as easy as possible.
Setting Description:
Paris is the campus for the PICA program. Students taking art history classes will spend much of class time in some of the worlds greatest museums like the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Centre Pompidou and many more. The studio art classes (photo, printmaking, painting, bookmaking) take place in the art studios of active artists enabling the students to see how contemporary artists in Paris work. Other classes will enable students to discover different parts of the wonderful city that Paris is.
Cost:
The Paris Institute of Creative Arts has made every effort to keep our program costs as manageable as possible while also providing a rich offering of classes and cultural experiences for students from a range of financial backgrounds. We're convinced that the study abroad experience is one of the most valuable aspects of any college education and we hope to be able to offer it at a price range the will not exclude all but the most well-off students.
