Program Description:

July 23 - August 14, 2016 The 3-week-master-level summer program Green.Building.Solutions. deals with central ecological, technical and societal aspects of sustainable planning and building. It aims students and professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering and urban planning. It takes place in one of the main cities for sustainable building and planning: Vienna, Austria. Students and experts work together for a better and sustainable living!

Green.Building.Solutions. Summer University offers its graduates the unique possibility to experience specialized contents out of an interdisciplinary view. Main topics of the 3-week program are: • Sustainability in Building and Urban Planning, • Principles of Passive House Planning and • Renewable Energies and Business Concepts. The program aims at architects and engineers from all over the world. 201 saw the 5th installment with 35 participants from 20 nations.

Learning objectives: 1. Understand the origin of resources and the respective use as well as the integration in buildings 2. Learn about the relationships between buildings and their context 3. Create an understanding for the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation to realize green building strategies

Setting Description:

First hand ecological knowledge and engineering expertise bundled in a three-week program in the capital of energy efficient building: Vienna. Situated in the heart of Europe, Austria, the Summer University takes place in one of the leading countries concerning green building, passive houses and ecological architecture. While living in one of the central guesthouses of the OeAD-Housing Office, participants can not only learn about sustainable living but also experience it on their own.
