- PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This three-week experience is a great opportunity for novices and foodies alike exploring the historic traditions and contemporary trends of Italian food culture. Florence will serve as a base where participants will live in apartments in the historic city center and take part in a series of culinary visits throughout Italy and experience the Italian kitchen first-hand through hands-on cooking classes.
Program Highlights include: • Food culture in Italy from the Roman Empire till today complimented by museum and market visits as well as talks with local professionals. • Food in Art visit to the Uffizi Gallery. • Lecture series on vinification accompanied by wine tastings and visits to wine estates. • Behind the scenes visits to small producers of gelato and fresh pasta. • Regional food fieldtrips to Liguria (Cinque Terre), Parma (Emilia-Romagna) and Pienza (Tuscany). • Daytrip to a Tuscan wine estate for wine tasting and vineyard visit. • Visit to an agroturismo for a vineyard visit, olive oil demonstration and tasting, cooking class and dinner. • Final day-long cooking class that becomes the group farewell dinner.

- Program participants will reside together in apartments located in the hostroci center of Florence. This program is characterized by direct contact with tradtional producers of staple Italian foodstuffs and hands-on cooking classes and meals.

- PROGRAM COST: € 1.550 The program fee includes: • A welcome cocktail party for program participants, faculty and program coordinators. • A welcome dinner in Florence. • All transportation and entrance fees for program-related field trips and visits. • All supplies and required equipment for the hands-on cooking classes. • Accommodation in double-occupancy rooms in self-catering apartments located in the historic center of Florence.
