- To provide students with a broad range of knowledge and skills that will
enable them to work in the video/audio production industries, both in
New Zealand and internationally.
Graduates will be able to: Use state-of-the-art video and audio production technology and demonstrate adaptability to future developments and needs Demonstrate self-awareness required to work effectively as part of a team Make oral and written presentations to clients and write briefs for crew Demonstrate a high level of skills in technology Fill a variety of roles, including supervisory, in the film, video and multi-media environments Complete major projects requiring research, collation, analysis and complex problem resolution Comply with Broadcasting Standards and Health and Safety Standards Demonstrate knowledge of New Zealand film history and bicultural issues Demonstrate understanding of international trends and their influence on the New Zealand context Prepare material for both the New Zealand and international markets in internet, film and video.

- Setting Description:
- Whangarei, known as "cherished harbour" in Maori, is Northland's largest city with a population of over 50,000. Whangarei’s deep water harbour supports three ports. Industry thrives in this commercial centre located just two hours by road to Auckland or 30 minutes by air. Beautiful beaches within a 30-minute drive of the city include the sparkling white sands of Bream Bay and the world-famous Tutukaka coast.
