Program Overview

Program Description:
Each day artists go to beautiful locations from cities to villages to paint. They are introduced to Indian artists, craftsmen, and attend concerts.

The city of Varanasi begs for painters and artists to be inspired by the architecture, people, arts and crafts. We create art in the street, in the markets, in classrooms and on the river. This gives us the opportunity to communicate with and teach art to many people who have never taken an art class.

This program seeks to inspire creative juices, to help create art, and to foster communication between artists from India and America.
Setting Description:
Varanasi is an ancient, holy, and artistic city with an abundance of concerts, artists, and preindustrial craftsmen. NIRMAN has two campuses, village and city and the city campus is located within walking distance of the holy Ganges River, markets, museums, hospitals, and the artist hang outs.
