Program Overview

Program Description:
Through a reciprocal community based program in El Transito, NICA works with dedicated students and volunteers on targeted projects to increase the sustainability of the community. We are looking for dedicated students and volunteers to assist on the following projects: Infrastructure Education Health Care Commerce Community Pride

NICA’s short-term internships differ from other programs by utilizing individual skill sets over a two, four or eight week period. Focus on individual interests and expertise enables a fulfilling global experience in a developing community. The participant will plan, develop, execute and/or lead a project designed around NICA’s mission: to empower Nicaragua through community development, helping the country become more self-sufficient and a greater participant in the global economy.

First hand experience is developing, implementing and leading sustainable efforts in an undeveloped, rural village on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua.
Setting Description:
Participants live in a communal setting designed to bring full awareness and understanding of El Transito.
Cost:
$500 per week includes room, board and three meals a day. Exciting adventures throughout Nicaragua are available as well!
