Program Overview

Program Description:
NYU’s Steinhardt School has partnered the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD), a nonprofit organization and a respected leader in the field of international educational and internship programs. Students enrolled in the program participate in an internship program sponsored by FSD that involves visiting schools, orphanages, and/or other social service organizations.

NYU Professor Ikuko Acosta leads the group through the internship experience, which involves course reading done before the program begins, journaling, and a final paper to be completed upon return to the US.

Costs include 3 credits, housing, and excursions. Students stay in shared rooms in a guesthouse with other volunteers.
Setting Description:
Students engage with the local people and culture through site visits to schools, rehabilitation facilities, orphanages, and other service organizations.
