Program Description:

Learn English while Exploring London. Located in the heart of London’s financial district, INTO City University’s English Language & University Prep Institute offers students the opportunity to improve their English proficiency, understand the university setting, and increase their ability to speak and understand English through guided visits in London’s most historic neighborhoods.

This full day institute includes two courses:

Integrated Skills, English Language, and Culture 
Designed for international students with an intermediate to high-intermediate proficiency level, this course focuses on improving English writing, grammar, and library research skills. The coursework focuses on skills needed for academic study – listening and note taking, grammar and writing, academic reading and vocabulary, oral presentations, and improving essay-writing skills. Classes are small, encourage student participation, and provide individual attention to focus on the needs of each student. Included in this course will be discussions about British life and culture, including the university system – what universities are looking for in student applications, the culture of the classroom, and how to succeed in a university setting.

Walking Tours of London
Students actively practice their listening and speaking skills as they learn about the most fascinating aspects of London. Students learn to research, organize, and lead tours to various sites around the capital as they interview local shopkeepers, museum staff, and residents. Located in the heart of London’s financial district, many historic sites are just steps away from City University, including Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the Gherkin, Spitalfields Market, and the Shard tower. Tours include museum visits, famous neighborhoods, architectural landmarks, and high tea, to name a few.

Setting Description:

Our home in London is The Stay Club Camden, a modern student residence in the multicultural heart of the city. You will be a part of a dynamic community of students and staff living together in one residence hall. Live in the same residence and participate in many evening and weekend activities with Discovery Internships London students.
