- Program Description:
- Our college and high school summer abroad programs consist of 50% in-class instruction and 50% trips & activities. By blending academics with experiential learning, our intensive curriculum truly embodies learning without borders.
We also accommodate to the different learning levels of our students by providing programs for new learners (students with no prior exposure to Mandarin Chinese) and experienced learners (students who possess an intermediate level of written and oral Chinese).
The new learners will go from writing their first Chinese characters to comfortably engaging in conversations with native Chinese speakers (in just 2 weeks!). Some English will be used in the first three days of the program to ease students into
the Language Pledge.
The experienced learners will be challenged to use Chinese to delve deeper and engage in discussions on historical, political, and social implications of Chinese
culture. Also, this program is open to worldwide applicants as the entire program will be conducted in Chinese only.
Our adventure-filled trips not only facilitate practical language learning, but they also allow students to unfold and discover the exciting city of Beijing. Trips include an overnight trip to the Great Wall, 798 Art District, Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, the Lama Temple, and old Beijing hutong homes.
Our Cultural Activities Classes will give students the unique opportunity to explore
language learning through doing. Examples of activities include: Chinese martial arts,
cooking, Chinese traditional massage and calligraphy.
Our modern housing facilities are secure and safe. They are conveniently located
near the classrooms, and most students will share double rooms. Our onsite resident
director will live in the same building as the students and will be accessible 24/7. Our Trips and Activities are designed with safety as our number one priority and will be conducted by our bilingual staff. All students will be provided with Beijing cell phones that have staff and emergency contact numbers programmed in the phone.
