Program Description:

Our Academic English Program provides the English language and academic skills necessary for success in U.S. colleges and universities. We offer seven levels of instruction from beginning through advanced. Full-time students take 18-20 hours of classes per week in the core areas of reading, writing, listening/speaking, grammar and vocabulary. Special topics classes are available on topics such as American Culture, Pronunciation, Business Writing, etc.

Our curriculum is divided into four sequences: reading/writing, listening/speaking, grammar, and vocabulary. Our program is grammar and vocabulary based, meaning that students will be exposed to important principles in these areas in all courses. The curriculum places an emphasis on vocabulary needed in the science, technology and international business fields, and our writing program is particularly rigorous as many students in our advanced levels are already attending universities and need advanced writing skills.

Setting Description:

We are located in the beautiful western American town of Golden, Colorado. Literally nestled in the foothills of the mountains, we are just 15 minutes west of Denver by car, and just 5 minutes by foot into the canyons of the Rocky Mountains. Golden is accessible by light rail, and the Mountain Language Institute lies along the major bus route through town. Golden offers high quality public schools for students with children and many exciting outdoor activities (biking, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing) for all.

Cost:

Full time students pay $2206.00 per 8-week session. There is a $50 application fee as well as the standard SEVIS and Visa Processing fees. Books cost extra and range from $150-$300 per session.
