Program Description:

MCAS offers programs for students with a strong interest in developing their Arabic language skills while learning firsthand culture about contemporary Morocco through active involvement in the community. Through a combination of Arabic language and area studies courses taught in English and Arabic, students gain significant insight into the Moroccan society, politics, literature, religion, and Morocco’s relationships with the West and within the Arab world through detailed analysis of media reports. MCAS has a reputable image for providing an authentic teaching setting of Arabic as a foreign language.

The Moroccan Center for Arabic Studies engages in education year round. With four terms relative to the Seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter, each length of study can last up to three months and curriculum includes Modern Standard Arabic, Colloquial Moroccan Arabic as well as calligraphy.

The program are designed in a way that helps students advance with with their levels and immersing themselves into a first hand experience of Morocco. Besides Arabic students can also choose to volunteer or intern with community NGOs around Rabat and combine that with their Arabic studies.

The oldest neighborhood of the capital city of Morocco, the Medina is a friendly, comfortable and safe place to pursue your scholastic endeavors. It is also the ideal locale for immersion in the local culture. You are guaranteed to find your host family, the Medina, Rabat and Morocco as an incredibly hosting culture with a history of overlapping values from both the East and the West that will deliver for you.
