- The primary mission of Veterinary Molecular Biology (VMB) is to perform basic and applied research, using state-of-the-art technologies, to contribute to a better understanding of animal health and disease. Graduateeducation is a high priority, and programs leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are offered. Research programs in VMB include parasitology, molecular biology, pathology, immunology, virology and cell biology, and are aimed at the development of improved methods for the detection, prevention, and control of infectious diseases. The NIH, NSF, ACS, USDA, and other public and private sources fund research programs in VMB.
