- They got me through every step of the way07/31/17
I am from Kentucky, USA, and I came to Buenos Aires through Mente Argentina because it was highly recommended by my advisors at my school, and I am super happy I did it. During the two months that I was there volunteering, they connected with me the whole
way. There are always events you can go to on their Facebook website and they are always more than happy to answer all the questions that you have. I volunteered because more than anything I wanted to practice the language, Castellano and I already spoke Spanish pretty well. The volunteering program was also super awesome because I was able to work with kids and people from the outside of everyday Buenos Aires city life, so I was able to see a completely different side of the city that usually you wouldn’t be able to see. I am very happy I came through Mente; they got me through in every step of the way. I got to know multiple areas inside Buenos Aires and todos son buena onda.

Hola, I am Mika from Syndey, Australia. I was with Mente Argentina for a month, and I did a volunteer program. I worked at the villas and looked after the children while the mothers got classes on cooking, nutrition, and had appointments with doctors.
I really enjoyed the volunteer program, it was great to spend time with the children, and as the days past we got to grow a stronger bond. Mente Argentina was great. When I arrived in Buenos Aires, they gave me an orientation, and spoke to me about what I needed to know about the city, how to get around, and everything was great. They organized for the to stay at a student residence, in a perfect location next to buses and really nice restaurants, supermarkets. I loved the residence, all the students were great, and I make lots of friends there and we still stay in touch. I really enjoyed the Argentine culture this experience was great. Thank you Mente Argentina.

Hi, my name is Daniella; I’m from Maryland in the USA. I came here for the five week volunteered program with street children; it was definitely an experience that I would never forget. I never seen that much poverty in the United States, that face
on, and it will break down any conception you have when you see these children and teenagers living on the streets. You’ll get to see them as your friends and not just another face at the stairwell, so that went super well for me, I grew a lot personally. I stayed in Palermo and I definitely felt relaxed to come home at night, I love the sound of the city on how people were always walking around. I love my apartment, I had my own place which was great not to share such as in a college dorm. Buenos Aires is something you have to experience on your own, you can’t be afraid you have to try things for yourself. I made tons of friends and I knew no words of Spanish, you just have to go out, not just Mente, which is fantastic, but it’s something that you have to figure out. If anything, you have to be grateful that you are growing as a person because of it. If you just rely the tour sides you are not going to have the true best experience that you can have.

Hello, I’m Julia and I were with Mente Argentina for a month. I did volunteering with children from a shelter; I had such a nice time meeting these kids. I also was doing Spanish classes in the mornings and I love it, they were so much fun, I improved
a lot. People here are so friendly, and everyone in Mente was very helpful. I stayed at a student residence and I met people from all around the world. I recommend the program to everyone, it’s been really easy and I’m glad I applied. Here was easy to meet a lot of people and the culture is super welcoming.

Hi, I’m Laura and I’m 18 years old. I came here to volunteer with Mente Argentina for two and a half weeks. I basically all these kids were coming off the streets, we would feed them and give them clothes. And during the school year they would have
classes. These kids have been on the streets forever, one of them was on the street when he was 10 years old. All of them have a different story, it was truly eye opening hearing them all. Apart from that, Mente Argentina gave me a lot of opportunities to go on city tours, and other activities like Mundo Lingo, etc. You just go out and meet people from around the world. I love Buenos Aires and there’s so much to do. I love the culture here and basically wherever you turn, you will find something new, such as Tango culture, food, etc. There’s so much history behind everything.

- Got to practice Spanish a lot07/31/17
Hi, I’m Amanda and I am with the Mente Argentina Volunteer Program. It was a great program because my best friend from home and I wanted to come to Argentina and volunteer and practice our Spanish speaking skills. Mente was great because they set us
up to work at a hospital to volunteer in were we got to practice Spanish and interact with kids and overall amazing people and through Mente we got to meet even more people, they had a lot of excursions and social activities planned for us to not feel alone here and It was just an amazing experience. I loved the people, the culture, the food, the shopping here, the subte how can you get anywhere on the subway or the bus for nothing. Our host family was awesome; they were great at finding us the perfect match. I’m sad to leave.

I actually love Mente. If I can talk about my favorite things here, they were my home stay. If you have the opportunity to live with a home stay, definitely do because mine totally changed my live. My sisters felt like actual sisters and my host mom was
like an actual mom. I got to work with her at the hospital volunteering twice a week. We actually meet and sit down with patient / doctor action and I also got to work with the kids. My second favorite thing about Mente was how awesome they are about the excursions and trips that you can go on, you get to hang out with this cool people and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
