Applied Health Services Research prepares graduates from diverse disciplines and backgrounds with the necessary skills to tackle the complex health policy issues facing us today and going forward. Cancer Research is a program leading to the MSc and PhD degrees.The research interests of the members are in the Molecular and Cell Biology of cancer and offers graduate students the opportunity to gain strong research skills and experience. Cardiovascular and renal physiology enables students to pursue research and academic studies in selected cardiovascular and renal physiology topics towards the MSc or PhD degree.Strengths of the faculty are areas of hypertension and stroke related research, and the neural control of the vasculature, heart and blood pressure. Clinical epidemiology is aimed at graduates intending a career in health services, faculty members seeking advanced training in clinical epidemiology, medical doctors and health care professionals interested in health care delivery research.Participants develop research skills and gain knowledge through core courses, research seminars and the completion of research projects. Community Health & Humanities aims to improve the health of the community through education, research and service that is focused on the prevention of disease and the protection and promotion of health. Human genetics enables students to pursue studies and research towards a MSc or PhD degree in a number of areas of genetics. Strengths of the faculty are in areas of cancer genetics, genetic epidemiology, gene mapping, medical genetics, birth defects and population genetics. Immunology and Infectious Diseases provides training towards MSc or PhD degrees. Training is towards laboratory research and a background in the discipline of Immunology and viral pathogenesis. The Neurosciences program offers research in an interdisciplinary setting.Students obtain training in neuroscience through core courses,journal club and visiting speaker
