- Medics To Africa organizes elective programs for senior medical students in their 3rd,4th & 5th year of study in medicine.Students will rotate in different specialties including clinical medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, emergency medicine, critical care, general and orthopedic surgery, E.N.T, ophthalmology and radiology.
Students are taken for ward rounds in a manner that helps them attain real life exposure and integrating theoretical knowledge. They will follow the supervising doctors and consultants to enable them draw and understanding of diverse aspects relating to cared of patients such as relevant history taking in various body systems, physical examination, relevant laboratory investigations and their interpretation, arriving at pertinent diagnosis and appropriate treatment measures.
Several procedures in the clinical medicine and pediatric rotations may be viewed, including administrations of various injections, lumbar punctures, insertion of intravenous cannulae, nasogastric intubation, lymph node biopsies, etc. students may also observe in various general and orthopedic surgeries.
Within obstetric and gynecology department, students will be allowed to view various procedures, which may include normal deliveries, cesarean sections, tubal ligations and several others. Programs start at eight in the morning till one in the afternoon. A lunch break of one hour is observed till two in the afternoon when the Students's resume their duties at the hospital.
The programs is based at the rural hospital in Migori. The hospital is about 70 kilometres from the famous Masai Mara National Game Reserve in Kenya & about 500kms from the city of Nairobi. Students coming on this program will spend one night in Nairobi on arrival and then proceed to the Masai Mara National Game Reserve for 3 days enroute to the hospital.
After the program, Medics To Africa will take you to Bamburi beach for a 3 days holiday in the coastal City of Mombasa.
Medical students will have the opportunity to rotate in different specialities such as Internal medicine,Emergencies,paediatrics,Surgery etc.They will be also going for dailly ward rounds from 8:00am with consultants.Students attending this program will need to bring with them their dean's letter allowing them to do the program. On arrival you will be met at the airport by one of our representatives and depending on time and airport of arrival,they will proceed directly to the hotel where they will stay overnight before proceeding to the hospital.

- Our medical program itinerary will take you to rural hospital at St.Joseph Mission hospital in Migori,which is located in western part of Kenya,then to the famous Maasai Mara National Game Reserve for 3days-2 nights & Bamburi Beach in Mombasa for 3days stay.
