Program Overview

Program Description:
Eligibilty Requirements: Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Course Descriptions: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Spanish Language (4 Credit Hours) Intensive Spanish language courses are offered at Estudio Sampere. The student’s Spanish proficiency will be tested upon arrival. Native and Heritage Speakers of Spanish have the option to sign up for the “History of Spanish Film / Arte en la Calle” course. SPW 4957/SPW 6908 MADRID_CREAcción (3 Credit Hours): In this project-based course, students will utilize their creative mind through the interaction with artists from a wide range of backgrounds (film, theater, dance, graphic/fashion design, visual arts, photography, fine cuisine, art management, musical performance) and will get familiar with the concept of cultura libre through weekly field trips to the uncommon back stages of Madrid’s vibrant artistic communities.

The program offers students a contemporary cultural studies approach that will enhance their Spanish language skills through a combination of tailored and intensive language and culture courses. Students will experience the Madrilèno lifestyle while alternating excursions, courses, time spent with their host family, as well as time dedicated to individual assignments dealing with Spanish history, arts and culture.

Cost:
Program Fee: $3,910 Program Fee Includes: Home stay accommodations (double occupancy), all meals, some local transportation, one laundry service per week, airport transfers, museum entrance fees, language books, weekly excursions, application/administrative fee, CISI insurance, pre-departure orientation, and on-site support staff. Program Fee Does Not Include: Airfare, FAU tuition (out-of-state tuition extra), most transportation, single room supplement, optional excursions, and spending money.
